Until next time...

Hello everyone!
So after months of blogging, I've decided to take things to yet another level in 2010. Black Hippy will undergo a concept change, giving the site more of a writer's feel. All this is an attempt to get back to my roots. Its been years since I've really given into my art, and lately all I am surrounded by are artists (when the Universe gives me a hint...I take it). So expect more cool rants and raves, things to check out, political commentary, aphorisms and links to my artistic project on Tumblr.

As always follow me on Twitter @Agent_Fresh. See you in the new decade :)

This is Cool

Things I've come across recently that YOU should check out:

The Grio - Run by MSNBC The Grio is an online news source written by, and for Black people. The company was started by Blacks who got backing from a major corporation. Great writers and articles, and news about OUR community that you won't find anywhere else.

Matt & Kim - An indie music group from Brooklyn with catchy tunes. I was put on to this duo a few months ago, but recently I downloaded a lot of their singles, and peeped some clips of previous shows. Very down to earth people that just want to make music. The also won a 2009 MTV VMA  for best Breakthrough Video.

Walk In My Shoes Global Project - The mission says it all:
The objectives of the Walk In My Shoes Global Project are to provide new and gently used shoes to children in developing countries.  Walking without shoes on soil and rocky surfaces can result in parasite infestation, infected cuts or other health problems. An important component of the mission is to bring awareness of the level of poverty among children around the world.  This economic condition affects all aspects of their human existence.
Book Clubs - More and more of my friends are starting book clubs, which is AWESOME! I always find it funny that the older we get the more comfort we find in the simplest things. Its cool that some of us still want human contact, as supposed to caring on completely digital relationships (Thanks social networking sites).

The Gym - I recently joined one, and I am so happy I started working out again! Even through all the soreness, I feel a lot better. The price was affordable, and I am more motivated by watching other people workout rather than doing it at home. Plus I get to scope out guys for my straight girl friends.......and gay male friends ;)

Philly...A GREAT sports town!

It's been some time since I've posted, I do apologize, but I've been gearing up for new artistic endeavors. More on that in 2010 :)

Philly has started to grow on me again. After nearly 8 years of living here and about 7 years of being tired of this city, I've reawakened my love affair. Philly is a great city. Mostly everything is accessible and centrally located. Sure there are PLENTY of times where I wish I had a car, especially when SEPTA trains are consistently late, but you really don't need one. There's plenty of Art, Music, Restaurants, Bars....and Sports teams!! I know I know, I could really care less about Philly sports, but you got to give it to this scrappy city; it's trying to reclaim its crown as a sports powerhouse on the East Coast. I mean you got the Phillies winning 2 pennants and 1 World Series in 2 years, Temple University's football team going to a Bowl game on a 9-3 record, the Eagles are soaring again, and Allen Iverson is once again dawning a Sixers jersey (AI  has been a personal favorite of mine since his days at Georgetown)! Wow Philly, you keep it up I might have to go to a game at the new sports complex...oh did I mention they're revamping that whole area to make it more consumer friendly?? Shops, movie theaters, restaurants, and bars will fill in the void left by the music venue The Spectrum. Never thought I'd say this but....GO PHILLY!
