The Pursit of $$$

Its no mystery that I have no clue what I want to be when I grow up. Most people in my generation will have over 5 different careers in their lifetime and work for over 10 different employers.  The days where you stayed with a company for decades are slowly fading. While I'm seeking counsel to answer my most asked question "what do I want to do career-wise", I've decided to just try and make money. Yep! Give into greed a little.
Now, I'm not a money hungry person. In fact, the more you think about what money is and how its produced, its quite laughable, and no more significant than Monopoly money. So why not play a game with money? I do know that I want to obtain a higher degree one day in business, and I've also witnessed that those whose know most about business and have succeeded the most, have also failed many times over.
For the next year or so, I'm going to play this money game and see what I can make of it. We only get one shot at existence in this plane of the Universe, so let's have some fun and enjoy the game!

Play Ball!

I recently crossed off another item on my list of things to do/accomplish this year. I went to a baseball game. As a kid I was a HUGE jock. Basketball was my sport. Every team I played on was a championship team. I even helped lead my middle school to the first winning season in over 5 years. Sadly, in High School my love for the game dwindled and I gave up on my first love. Lately, I've been getting back into sports and watching everything from a baseball game to a rugby match (but not soccer), needless to say I longed to see a game in person. Maybe the old jock in me would come out full force and really have some fun.

We pulled up to Yankee Stadium to watch the rematch of last year's World Series: Yankees vs Phillies. While the Phils got slaughtered, I absolutely loved the game and the ambiance (checked in on foursquare and got 2 new badges :). While I was not impressed by $10 beers and $7 ice creams, I was impressed by the look of the field, the lights and the crowd. I can't wait to go to my next game! I'll just remember to eat before I go.

I just don't get it

The World Cup has started! Teams from across the globe are competing against one another in the most watched and played game on the planet: Soccer. My friends on Twitter (and in real life) are all abuzz, rooting for their home countries and favorite teams. Except for me. I don't get it. I just don't get soccer!
I can appreciate the athleticism but I have no concept of how it works, what the positions are, and why you can end the game in a tie. Maybe its because I'm an American, and here Soccer isn't that high on the sports totem pole. Long viewed as a hobby game for kids, Soccer is now becoming more prevalent in the US. Most states now have teams and the games are being televised on local networks. Maybe if I watch it a little more I'll understand, but for now I'll just enjoy the random tweets and comments about the games.

How do my readers like the NEW layout???!?! Feedback is appreciated!

Karaoke Makes Everything Better!

What do overworked and underpaid twenty-somethings do for fun on "schoolnights"? Karaoke! A time honored tradition the world over, karaoke gives us all an excuse to let loose and completely murder some of our favorite songs. My yuppie friends and I did just that at Qba Lounge in the Northern Liberties section of Philly last night. $3 drinks all nights, and free reign over the mic. Needless to say it was a fun time, and really de-stressed me from the busy week. Actually made a new promoter friend and got some free gear. Sometimes it's good to be Greek!

What Grinds My Gears: Misanthrop Edition

You know what really grinds my gears? People. People are so annoying! The most annoying things about humans is their willingness to judge. What does MY life have to do with you?! Nothing, that's what. We all judge people, and make quick assumptions based on outward appearances, hobbies, tastes in music, lifestyles, etc... However, don't spread your ASSUMED opinion about others to others, then it becomes a RUMOR. Another thing I hate;  people who work the hardest get rewarded the least. Especially when it comes to one's job. I also hate that people can't be honest, humble, or generous at times. We expect so much from others, but ask yourself: What are YOU doing to motivate and inspire other people? You can only expect what you GIVE.

And that's what REALLY Grinds My Gears.

Memorial Day Weekend

Ahhh! Another successful weekend! Not only does Memorial Day weekend signify the unofficial start of summer, but its a time for all of us to remember what others have sacrificed for God & Country. Coming from a family where most relatives have served, I can't help but feel grateful and indebted to all of them. Especially to my linesister over in the Middle East right now. I hope she knows I think about her everyday, and pray that the Universe protects her and ALL of our service people. Even though I may not agree with the war, or warring governments, I can't help but be grateful for a strong defense system. She's part of that. So here's to all of you, even the ones that didn't make it Home:
